Sisters Grace Padan and Jasmine Saran are not just any duo — they’re an unstoppable force of entrepreneurial spirit, adventurous off-roading, and genuine love for cats. Whether it's leading their family business, creating beauty products, or navigating off-road trails, these sisters manage to juggle it all while inspiring others along the way. We caught up with them to dive into their fascinating lives and hear their thoughts on entrepreneurship, social media success, and, of course, their beloved feline friends.
Sisters with Opposite Personalities
When it comes to their personalities, Grace and Jasmine couldn't be more different, yet they complement each other perfectly.
Grace, the extroverted adventurer, thrives on leading the charge in everything she does. "I’m the crazy driver, always taking risks and enjoying the thrill, whether it's in our family business or out on the trails!" she laughs.
On the other hand, Jasmine describes herself as the quieter, more reserved one who prefers to stay behind the scenes. "Speaking to a large audience makes me nervous, but I always let Grace take the lead when it comes to introductions!"
Despite their differences, the bond between the two sisters is undeniable, and it’s clear that their unique personalities have shaped the way they approach both business and life.
A Lifelong Love for Cats
Grace and Jasmine's love for cats began at an early age and has only grown stronger over the years. Grace recalls, "It’s hard to pinpoint when it all started, but I’ve always been drawn to their independent spirits and quiet affection." With a household full of 10 cats, Grace’s favorite activity is simply cuddling with her furry friends, something that brings her immense joy.
Jasmine, on the other hand, has cherished cats her whole life. "We grew up with them, and it's impossible for me to imagine a home without one," she says, reminiscing about her late cat Ginger, who was beloved by all, including their mom, who wasn’t exactly a cat person. After Ginger went missing, Jasmine’s love for cats only deepened, and she now has two new kittens, Yuri and Choki, who help her heal after the loss of her cat Panda in 2024.
Women Entrepreneurs: Challenges and Triumphs
Grace’s journey as a woman entrepreneur began with taking the reins of Merarap Hotspring Lodge, a family legacy that she stepped into after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It wasn’t easy, especially with a small team and the remote location, but it taught me the importance of perseverance and adaptability," she reflects. The experience was a crash course in resilience, but Grace embraced every challenge as an opportunity for growth.
Jasmine, the creative mind behind Jasmine Cosmetic, took a leap of faith by launching her beauty brand in 2024.
The journey has not been without hurdles, especially the challenge of building trust in a new product. "The launch was tough because getting people to believe in a new brand is hard. But with patience and hard work, we've made it," she shares. Her advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs? "Be passionate, do your research, and believe in yourself. Don't be afraid to take the leap!"
Beauty Queens with a Purpose
As beauty queens, both sisters have a deep love for beauty products that enhance their lives. For Grace, sunscreen is an absolute must to protect her skin from harsh outdoor conditions, followed by a signature perfume to boost her confidence. She also loves her sister’s lip matte and would love to see Jasmine expand her brand to include high-quality skincare products like waterproof foundation with SPF 50+.
Jasmine, on the other hand, swears by Chanel’s Gabrielle perfume, Catrice’s matte foundation, and, of course, her own Jasmine Cosmetic's blush and lip combo. "These products are part of my daily routine — they give me that perfect natural look," she says. As for future plans, Jasmine is excited to launch a cushion foundation with built-in powder by the end of the year.
Off-Road Adventures and Social Media Stardom
What started as a personal journey of off-roading to gather supplies during the pandemic turned into a social media sensation. Grace admits she was shocked by how quickly their off-road content gained popularity. "We started posting videos just for fun, but the response was overwhelming! It’s opened doors and connected me with an incredible community of people," she shares.
Jasmine, too, never anticipated how their off-road adventures would go viral. "It was surreal at first, but now we’re recognised everywhere!" Despite the occasional negativity, the sisters focus on the positive aspects of their newfound fame and embrace the opportunities that come with it. "I encourage other women to share their off-road adventures. Representation matters, and we need more female voices in this space," Jasmine adds.
Looking to the Future
As for the next 10 years, Grace and Jasmine both have big dreams. Grace envisions expanding Merarap Hotspring Lodge while continuing to share her off-road adventures. "I’ll always be passionate about off-roading and creating content. It’s what I love," she says. Jasmine, on the other hand, hopes to continue growing her business and making a lasting impact in the beauty industry. "I want to create a legacy, something my family can be proud of," she shares.
Whether on the trail, in the beauty world, or at home with their cats, Grace and Jasmine are living proof that with hard work, passion, and a lot of love, anything is possible. Their journey as entrepreneurs, off-road enthusiasts, and beauty queens is just beginning, and we can't wait to see where it takes them next!
